About Us

Points of Life, LLC was founded due to very personal reasons. Richard Wexler and his wife Anna had three of their parents get seriously ill within months of each other. They were managing school age children, homework, after school activates, sports, careers and three parents. They realized they were simply not prepared for this stage in their lives.

As their parents became increasingly ill, it was quite a struggle. Richard and his wife had not given much thought to this stage in their lives and they were overwhelmed. As they went through this journey they realized that many other families could benefit from their knowledge. What if they could save others from having to go through what they had gone through? In 2008 Richard and Anna Wexler founded A GoldenHand, LLC to help others prepare before a loved one became ill or incapacitated.

Marilyn Ellis had a similar experience with both her mother and her uncle and had also learned a lot. Then, as a Professional Organizer through her company, Lighthouse Organizers, LLC, she helped a 95 yr old client downsize and move to a senior community. It was such a soul satisfying experience that she decided to make helping seniors the primary focus of her business.

In the fall of 2010, Richard was keynote speaker at a Senior Symposium in Lafayette, CA. Marilyn was a vendor at the same event. When she heard him tell his personal story, she knew he was on to something big. Getting people to talk about the topics surrounding aging is challenging at best. People were listening to Richard. She introduced herself with an idea and that was the beginning of what was later to become Points of Life, LLC.

Marilyn and Richard began discussing ways to make difficult presentations about aging more creative and enjoyable. What would it take to get people to listen? They decided that Live Theatre in the form of 2-3 minute skits to highlight what families are dealing with would be a good draw for audiences. They brainstormed some possible scenarios. Marilyn wrote the skits, adding some humor to the mix.

On a rainy night in December, 2010, they invited every senior service professional they knew in the SF Bay Area to the premier of what was to later to become The Elder Ed Players. This trial run in front of 20+ Elder Care Professionals was such a hit that word spread quickly and soon they were inundated with interest from all over the SF Bay Area. In the spring of 2011 Richard Wexler and Marilyn Ellis launched Points of life, LLC. Within months they had created seven chapters in seven Northern California counties, representing professionals from dozens of senior related services. Their teams of Professionals are now educating families about life’s stages and the need to prepare before a loved one gets ill or falls. Every month their teams of Professionals present the The Elder Ed Players and help families learn about the complexities of aging in a very creative, fun and engaging way.

Richard and Marilyn get asked about the origins of the name, Points of Life all the time. It was created because each one of their Points of Life Professionals represents a “Point of Life “in everyone’s personal journey. It can’t be done alone. It takes a Team of Professionals to help plan for each of life’s stages. Points of Life, LLC is that Team.
